Information:
A. The Liberal/Seward County Emergency Communications Center receives emergency and non-emergency calls for service and dispatches for all of the emergency services in Liberal and Seward County, Kansas.
B. The Liberal/Seward County Emergency Communications Center is the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) for Liberal and Seward County answering all 911 calls. The Center is located at the Sheriff's Office. There are five (5) 911 lines and 15 other non-emergency administrative lines that are answered by communications staff.
C. The Liberal/Seward County Emergency Communications Center is staffed by a director and nine (9) telecommunicators running three, eight hour shifts a day.
D. The Liberal/Seward County Emergency Communications Center is jointly funded by the City of Liberal and Seward County and is governed by a seven (7)-member board. The Board is responsible for determining operational policies and procedures of the Department. Annually the Board, along with the Director, develops the budget and recommends the same to the City Manager and County Administrator who then presents it to the City and County Commissions for approval. The Board consists of the following department heads of the City and County:
