Arkalon Park is the
perfect spot for hiking, fishing, picnicking and camping. The
park has ponds, streams, marshes, and three lakes, all of which
are stocked with fish. Many species of wildlife, including beavers,
deer, turtles, snakes, squirrels, raccoons, and a variety of birds,
including Canadian geese, bluebirds and falcons make Arkalon Park
their home. Nature trails through the marsh area provide an opportunity
to see the wildlife in its natural habitat. Electrical hookups
in the campground area, a bathhouse, a RV dump station, and a
shelter facility are also provided.

FISHING PERMITS:
A State of Kansas fishing license is required to fish at the
Arkalon Park and all State regulations are strictly enforced.
CAMPING FEES:
$10.00 per night with
electricity, due in advance.
$5.00 per night without electricity, due in advance.
GENERAL RULES:
General park rules prohibit hunting, fireworks and the discharge
of firearms, speeds faster than 30 mph in the park or 5 mph in
the campground. Vehicles are limited to graded roads, with right-of-way
for cattle and wildlife. There is a leash requirement for pets.
Camping is permitted for a maximum of 14 consecutive days. Alcohol
is prohibited on park property. There is no swimming, cutting
of trees, or littering. The use of ATV and dirt bikes in
the Arkalon Park facility is prohibited. Penalty fines are
$500 - $1,000.
RECREATION:
In addition to fishing, camping and having a picnic at the Arkalon,
you can walk the nature trail, play volleyball and horseshoes
or enjoy the wildlife in the Park, including wild turkey and bird
watching.
Geo-Caching: A new
addition to the activities at the Arkalon Park include the locations
of 30-plus cache treasures hidden by local geo-caching enthusiasts.
This new 21st century 'scavenger hunt' uses a hand-held geographic
position satellite receiver (GPS) to locate the hidden treasures.
Geo-caching enthusiasts hide their caches and note the coordinates
of it by listing the latitude and longitude of the location with
their GPS on the Internet.
